Back when it was just a rumor, GoldenEye was said to be coming to both the Wii and DS. But when GoldenEye was properly unveiled during Nintendo’s E3 press conference, only the Wii version (featured in the video above) was shown or mentioned. A DS logo has been on the official GoldenEye game website, and now Activision has confirmed that the game is in development and will, like the Wii version, be released later this year.

Following a mention of the DS version in a Nintendo quarterly earnings report (PDF), Joystiq was able to confirm with Activision that GoldenEye is coming to the DS and that “it’s not a port.” It’s being developed by n-Space, the developer behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on Wii, DS, and PS2. Actors Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, and Rory Kinnear, who play James Bond, M, and Bill Tanner in the Bond films, respectively, will lend their voices to the game.

A listing on n-Space’s website mentions multiplayer support in the DS game and promises the story of GoldenEye is to be “re-envisioned by famed Bond author Bruce Feirstein for 2010.” It also notes some of the classic scenes from the original move that will make the cut, including the tank sequence in St. Petersburg, the dam in Arkhangelsk, and Severnaya.

Fairytale Fights

Earlier this week, Fairytale Fights developer Playlogic filed for bankruptcy. Along with the filing came purported allegations that German publisher Koch Media owed Playlogic 1.7 million Euros (or about $2.2 million USD) in unpaid bills and as a result was now suing Koch. Koch has made a statement today denying both the claim that it owes Playlogic any money and that a lawsuit has been filed.

“In connection with [the bankruptcy filing] we read with surprise that allegedly one of the contributions due to Playlogic is a sum of 1.7 million euros owed to them by Koch Media and that the company has filed a court case against Koch Media,” Koch CEO Klemens Kundratitz told MCV.

Despite what has been circulating around the Internet this week, Kundratitz claimed that no legal action has been filed against Koch by Playlogic and that Koch has to debt to the developer. He stated, “We therefore see the need to set the record straight: Koch Media did enter into a Pan-European Distribution Agreement with Playlogic Entertainment Inc in June 2009 for several of their titles but we refute that we have any debts that are properly due. In contradiction to the recent news articles Playlogic has not filed any formal legal action against us.”

The limited edition of the upcoming Medal of Honor reboot is picking up another extra. EA announced today that the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions will all contain invitations to the beta for Battlefield 3, which is currently under development by DICE.

Battlefield 3 was confirmed last year, but few details regarding the new shooter have been released. The most recent entry to the series is Battlefield Bad Company 2, which was released earlier this year.

Buying the limited edition of Medal Honor will afford access to the beta, which is slated to begin within twelve months of that game’s release. Other extras include special pistols and shotguns, with the PS3 version also throwing in a remastered version of Medal of Honor Frontline.

MyWorld

In their official announcement, Realtime Worlds described Project: MyWorld with the rhetorical question, “What would it look like if Nintendo built Google Earth?” With that in mind, we now have a better idea of what the project means to the studio thanks to a recent post on their official blog.

Design director Sean Dugan writes that Project: MyWorld “wasn’t some crazy PR stunt launched yesterday.” Instead, it seems that the project has been in the works from the earliest days of the studio, with some of the Project: MyWorld technology being used to develop APB and Crackdown.

“Realtime Worlds was founded with the dream of someday delivering on the promise that Project: MyWorld represents,” Dugan says in the post, noting that Project: MyWorld has been a “top-secret skunkworks project for years.”

Black Ops

Is Activision planning to release elaborate “Hardened” and “Prestige” editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops, just as they did for Modern Warfare 2 last year? Quite possibly, as IGN reports online retailer Buy.com briefly listed both versions before quickly pulling the listings from the site.

While the listings no longer exist, IGN says Buy.com had the Hardened version priced at $79.99, and the ultimate Prestige version priced at $149.99, although there were no details on what these versions would supposedly include. When asked for comment, Activision wouldn’t confirm or deny the existence of the deluxe versions, with a representative only saying that “we haven’t made any announcements to date.”

You will of course recall that the Prestige version of Modern Warfare 2 last year included no less than a real, working pair of night vision goggles, which certainly sets a high bar for whatever items a Prestige version of Black Ops may include. If Activision does indeed release such a deluxe version for the game, we can only hope the bonus item is a Vietnam-era flamethrower. Or at the very least a KA-BAR knife?
